Joi & Jordan
August 31, 2025
Joi and Jordan’s journey began in 2013, during their freshman year at Spelman and Morehouse College. Joi would often head over to Archer Hall at Morehouse to do laundry and study with her best friend — a routine that, unbeknownst to her, would lead to something extraordinary.
One day, a mutual friend from Morehouse came to hang out and brought Jordan along. Jordan walked in wearing a baseball jersey that had Joi's last name on it. Till this day, Joi still thinks that was a sign from God. That introduction sparked a connection that would change everything. Joi and Jordan quickly became close friends, sharing laughs, late-night conversations, and support through their college experience. Over time, their friendship quietly blossomed into something deeper.
After graduation, life led them down different paths. Joi moved to Washington, D.C. to attend Georgetown University for her Master’s degree, while Jordan continued his engineering studies at the University of Michigan. Despite the distance, their connection remained strong. They traveled back and forth, nurturing their bond until Jordan asked Joi to be his girlfriend — and their relationship flourished.
Following graduation, Jordan moved back home, and their love continued to grow. Then came the pandemic. While the world slowed down, their relationship found its rhythm. Spending so much time together during COVID made one thing incredibly clear: this was meant to be. A match made by God.
In 2023, Jordan asked Joi to be his wife — and she said yes.
Now, surrounded by the love of their family and friends, they’re ready to celebrate the next chapter of their beautiful story — together, forever.
Jordan is graduating from the 3-2 engineering program from Morehouse College and Michigan University. Jordan was also a part of the Robert Harris class that received a donation that cleared any outstanding tuition debts.
No cherries… this time lol
Hi everyone, I’m Dove, the bride’s younger sister—though many might say we’re twins, hehe! Growing up, Joi was my hero, someone I admired so much, and she still is today. My built-in bestie, she’s been by my side through everything. As kids, I could only dream of the fulfilling futures we’d have, and now I’m so honored to stand beside her as she takes this beautiful next step as a bride. From 3rd Ward Houston to DC, she’ll always have my heart!
Hello All! My name is Ryann, I am from New Jersey and have lived in DC for 4 years. Joi and I hit it off right away as great friends during our freshman year at Spelman College, and have since become more like sisters. I remember the day our bride and groom met on Morehouse campus, as teenagers, and feel extremely honored to be participating in this beautiful celebration of their love and commitment to one another, as adults. I pray for a lifetime of happiness and an abundance of love and blessings for their family.
Hey Y'all! I’m Lexxx. Joi and I met 7 years ago. Joi came to me as a client and left as a friend. We have created a beautiful friendship that's more like family. Joi is the sweetest girl I know and she is my best friend. I am honored to be your bridesmaid. Love you, girl!! I wish you both a fulfilling marriage and lifetime of Joy!!
I’m Aminah, and I met Joi in graduate school. From the moment I met Joi, I thought that she lit up the room with her smile and infectious laugh. She is the kindest and most thoughtful person I know, and always strives to make people around her feel warm and loved. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to return the favor to her on this special occasion.
My name is Bonita, and I’ve been best friends with the bride for 17 years. From Houston to Atlanta to DC, we’ve laughed, cried, and created inside jokes no one understands—she’s Baby Bop, I’m Tinky Winky, and together, we’ve been unstoppable. She’s my daughter’s godmother, my ride-or-die, and the only person I’d let boss me around today. This wedding is all about her, but let’s be real—our friendship could have its own show. Now, let’s get her married so we can add ‘Mrs.’ to her title and champagne to our glasses!
Hey y’all, I’m Camille. Joi and I go way back to fourth grade, and we've been best friends ever since. We've shared countless memories—secrets, laughter, tears -and I’m both excited and honored to be apart of her special day. Joi and Jordan are a truly special couple, and I’m confident they’ll have a lifetime of love and happiness ahead of them. Now let’s tame and marry off this wild woman!
Hello family and friends! My name is Chelseya and I have had the pleasure of being a sister-friend to Joi for over 10 years. She and I met at Spelman College during our freshman year on the ‘Dirty South’ step team. We didn’t know it then, but that experience built the foundation to a lasting friendship and memories we still laugh about to this day. I am so grateful to not only witness Joi and Jordan’s love develop into what I pray will be a lasting and loving marriage, but also serving as her bridesmaid.
Hi everyone! I’m Melanie. Joi and I met in high school over 15 years ago. One day, Joi and Bonita came to my house to sleep over and they never left lol We’ve been locked in and sisters ever since! From the countless flights to Atlanta, D.C., Houston, and New Orleans, we made sure nothing kept us apart! Can’t wait to witness and be apart of this beautiful union between her and Jordan! Truly a match made in heaven! May God continue to bless them and their marriage. From New Orleans to D.C, congrats my girl! Love you forever!
I’m Taj and I had the pleasure of meeting the bride in grad school, where we quickly became more like sisters than friends. She’s been one of the most inspiring and supportive people in my life and has shown me the true definition of “friend”. It’s an honor to stand by her side as she starts this beautiful new chapter.
My name is Sky, I’m Joi’s baby sister. Joi and I both have that goofy mindset that would literally light up my day because we’re always laughing every time we’re with each other. When I was younger I remember I would always be under her and Dove. She would always try and make time to spend with me and I’d be happy for every moment we spent together til this day.
